Simon Neal is a BAFTA nominated director of TV comedy, drama and commercials. He began his career at the BBC, where he wrote and directed a multitude of award-winning trailers and idents. He quickly progressed into commercials with an acclaimed PSA for Cancer Research UK, which won him Best New Director at the BTAAs and a Bronze Lion at Cannes.

His TV credits include Doughnuts, a half-hour single comedy for Channel 4, series 2 of the acclaimed comedy drama Youngers for Big Talk, praised by the Observer as ‘Tender, topical, truthful. A gem’, and Rue Boy, a spoken word film that was broadcast by Channel 4 in their Random Acts strand.

Simon recently directed series 2 of the BAFTA winning sitcom Chewing Gum for Channel 4. Described by The New Statesman as “Hilarious…Achingly relatable” and “Magnificently filthy wit” by The Evening Standard, The Guardian proclaimed it “The future of comedy”, no less. Simon’s series is up for Best Scripted Comedy at the 2018 BAFTAs.

Simon has built an extensive portfolio of commercials for some of the world’s leading brands, including McDonalds, KFC, British Airways, Land Rover and Shell Oil.
